About This Plant

The classic purple morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea), with rich purple trumpet flowers and heart-shaped green leaves. A fast, twining vine that climbs 6 to 10 feet in one season. Flowers open in the morning and fade by afternoon, with fresh blooms every day from midsummer until frost. Grown as an annual outside zones 10 and 11; give it full sun and a trellis, fence or arbor. It self-seeds readily, and the seeds are toxic if eaten.
